The Live Paint tool is covered at the end of Chapter 6, pages 206 to 208.
It is a different way of working in Illustrator customized towards people that have a background in Drawing & Sketching: it allows you to colorize "open shapes" and groups of lines, that other wise will be impossible to colorize.
You can enter Live-Paint mode by first selecting the complete artwork, then choosing: OBJECT<Live paint< Make.
You can also access it by pressing the icon in the tool bar.
Remember that the Live-paint bucket tool is located inside the Shape-builder icon in your Tools palette. It works in direct connection with the Swatches, so have the colors you want to use previously organized in a swatch group (swatch palette p.188-193).

To define the size of gaps that Illustrator will allow in order to establish a Fill you can open the Gap Options Dialog box,
OBJECT>Live Paint<Gap Options
In the preview you will see what gaps is overcoming with a tiny bar, in the color you define.

If you watched Angie Taylor's video, you should know by now that when you enter Live-Paint mode you will loose previously applied Appearance-settings, Like Brushes, live-effects... Frecuently you will have a drawing made of brush-artwork (with changes of width in the strokes): in that case, before you enter Live Paint mode, you should Outline your strokes with OBJECT<Path<Outline stroke.
