Sports are a way of life.
With so many sports and so little time to either watch or engage in them,
something has to be done to satisfy our thirst for more sports.

Your task is to combine TWO existing sports into one.

The new sport should be different and unique NOT a combination of the two sports.
You will use the two original sports only as starting points.
Example: If you choose skateboarding and skiing, the equipment should NOT be a skateboard or skies and a helmut.
The equipment could be a sheet that has been starched and attached to the seat of your pants.
How crazy a sport can you create?
The sport can be futuristic or completely absurd!

Begin the assignment by
  1. reviewing Uncommon Relationships or Connecting the Unconnected

  2. follow daVinci's 4 step Parameter/Attribute Technique

  3. EACH existing sport will have separate "parameters" or main categories such as equipment, rules, uniforms etc.
  4. EACH existing sport will have a MINIMUM OF 5 attributes listed under each main category for that sport to help develop ideas.
Example:Attributes of uniform might be color, material, length of sleeves, size
Attributes of instant coffee may include its aroma, flavor,
color, caffeine content, packaging and presentation, price, shelf-life, etc.

  5. Set up the main categories in columns with the attributes listed under each one as shown in the reading examples.

  6. Create a list of 5 new sports with a simple explanation for each.

  7. Choose one of the new sports and develop it to include but not limited to:
    • name
    • rules
    • equipment
    • players positions in sport if appropriate
    • mascot

  8. Document the technique and your solutions in a Word file and copy and paste into the Discussion Reply area.

  9. Technique must be clearly documented.

  10. View other submissions and comment on the solution and the success of their technique.
