Explore the Dreamweaver workspace

The Dreamweaver workspace is designed to make it easy to find the tools you use most. Using collapsible panels, you don't have to search through menus or remember keyboard shortcuts; this allows you to focus on your site production and to work efficiently.

There are six basic Dreamweaver workspace groups:

  1. The document window is the large white section of the program window where you create and edit Web pages and includes the menu bar at the top.
  2. The insert bar, located above the document window, contains clickable buttons that can insert objects, like images or tables.

  1. The toolbars contain buttons that can help you accomplish various tasks. To hide or display the Standard or Document toolbars, click View on the menu bar, point to Toolbars, then click Document or Standard.
  2. The property inspector, located below the document window, lets you check and adjust the properties of a selected object. It is located at the bottom of the Dreamweaver window.

  1. The status bar, located at the bottom of the document window, displays the tag selector, window size and estimated download time.

  1. A panel (or palette), located to the right of the document window, is an additional window that contains information or commands dealing with specific topics, while panel groups are sets of related panels that are grouped together. To view the contents of a panel in a panel group, click the panel tab that you want to examine further. You can collapse or expand panel groups and can either have them docked to the side of windows or free-floating.
