Dear Faculty Using Readers, I have attached a new spreadsheet and instructions that will assist you in keeping track of your readers. Our Reader funds were cut back this year and I have allocated every penny of the available funds and I do not want you to run out of money in the spring. The spreadsheet is easy to use. Just follow the instructions and keep checking the Master spreadsheet to see if you are on, below or above your target %. I will be happy to show any of you personally how to use the sheet. Originally I designed it for federal work study managers, but it is being used by many people on campus, including our Assistant Controller, to monitor and plan hours of hourly workers during the year. It is designed as a general budget forecasting and reporting budget tool for any supervisor with multiple hourly workers in specific categories with different hours and pay rates and as a record of how your budget is doing each month. If any of you wish to have more worksheets let me know and I will customize your sheet. Drag the excel spreadsheet to your desktop and save where you wish. Print out the instructions and plug in your name, total allotment, student's names and amount of dollars you wish to give each student out of your total allocation. Once you enter this information the spreadsheet will tell you how many hours to allow each reader to read per month and how your overall budget is doing on the Master spreadsheet. Any suggestions of how it could be improved would be welcome. Thanks, Jack
