PH-109 MidTerm Preparation

1.    Chapters 1-9 in HorensteinÕs ÒPhotographyÓ book.  Pay particular attention to chapter one ÒHistory of PhotographyÓ.  Take online quizzes to test yourself.

¥  You will be responsible for photographerÕs work shown in chapter 1 (History of Photography).   Name, dates, historical importanceÉ.

2.    Chapters 1-6 in Tim DalyÕs ÒDigital: Photography: HandbookÓ; plus handout.

3.    f/stop scale (in full and 1/3 stop increments), shutter speed scale (in full stop increments), and ISO scale (in full and 1/3 stop increments).  All linked to course outline in Pipeline.

4.    Basic Exposure Formula and ÔequivalentÕ applications.  Changing ISOÕs.

5.    Define and identify Specular and Diffused Qualities of Light.  What is the primary factor that dictates ÔQuality of LightÕ?  Specular Highlight; Diffused

Highlight; Shadow.

6.    Ratios.  How many stops different between ratios.  (1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:8+)

7.    Be able to apply and compare quality of light at different times of day.
