ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS - Using WebCT¹s Assignment Tool

PRINT THIS DOCUMENT AND KEEP AS A HARD COPY FOR REFERENCE.

It is important that you follow these instructions for submitting your assignments.

Use your own image manipulation software applications to complete assignments (Photoshop, ACDSee, or equivalent), and Microsoft WORD (version 98 or later) but it is necessary to convert your word document to an .txt or .doc or .html file.

When naming an assignment file to upload to me, use a LastName_Assign#.txt  convention for assigning a filename (use no spaces).  Also, if you work on a PC, file names cannot exceed 9 characters (letters or numbers); so use only the first 5 letters of your last name (Mac users have up to 23 characters they can use).

Example:  Your name is Jane Smith; you are making a Word file with your 01assn.htm assignment called Chairs:

your file name from Microsoft Word will be saved as

smith_01.txt

Example:  Your name is Linda Lowell, your file name is:

lowel_01.txt

WebCT will not recognize file names with spaces, or characters that are not numbers or letters. If you use the Save As function under file, you can save as an HTML file. DO NOT USE WORD PAD OR A SIMPLE TEXT EDITOR.

When the radial button is selected and click on the DOWNLOAD button you will be asked to Pick an Application or Save As Š choose Save As (making sure the .txt or .htm extension is added at the end of the files name.  Then ok to send button.

Make sure you have completed the assignment as instructed before you attempt uploading your completed assignment. (see the sample.htm file)

Open the a1ss.txt file in Microsoft Word, fill in your name and date information and then drag your image files into the appropriate places (place the cursor right before the PLACE THE IMAGE HERE prompt) in the .txt document, resize them to resemble the sample.htm file (click to sample).  Save the file as:
