Famous Photographer - In the Style of …

Two Parts

Part 1 – DUE last class before Spring Break

1. Identify a photographer (living or not…) whose work and style you admire.

a) Famous Photographers link on class outline

b) www.yahoo.com also has links to famous photographers

c) www.google.com will identify much more information on the

photographer you are interested in researching.

2. Decide whether you will shoot "in the style of…" or "re-create" an existing

famous image by this photographer.

3. Type a short paragraph on who, why, and what you intend to do.

Part 2 – DUE last class of semester

1. Type a 3-5 page research paper (w/bibliography and footnotes) on the

photographer you selected for this research project. Include a biography and a

discussion regarding their style as you interpret it. One third of the paper should

address your individual photographic efforts. Answer the following questions:

What were the challenges you had to overcome? What did you discover in the

process of replicating or shooting in the style of another photographer? What did

you enjoy most about this assignment.

2. Create a photograph(s)

a) Replicate an existing famous image by this photographer (include a

reproduction of the original image in your report).

b) Create a photograph "in the style of" this famous photographer.
