Course Format

Class will meet once a week, Mondays, 8am-1:00.
The first 1-1.5 hours will genrerally be lecure, discussion of new
and interesting topics presented by either the instructor or students.
The rest of the class time will be either one-on-one with the instructor to
discuss individual work or general critiques that will include the entire class.

Students will work on research and/or assigned projects which will include
reworking some projects and/or developing new projects for your portfolio.

It is important that each of you come prepared each class,
be on-time and stay the entire class.

ASSIGNMENTS (may change at instructors discrection)
The ASSIGNMENTS in the Graphic Design Portfolio class are designed to help you assemble a polished, professional portfolio and present yourself to a prospective employer. Some assignments may be worked on simultaneously, and each student will be expected to work diligently throughout the semester, with benchmarks/due dates indicated on the course calendar.

All assignments must be completed by Week#15 and each student must be ready to present the following during exam week:
• A Professional Portfolio, mounted and in a case/book.
This includes an expanded or new project(s) you have developed for this class, and projects that you have refined or improved to be featured in your portfolio.
A minimum of 7 pieces is required.

• Cover letter and Resume

• A Personal Identity Package:
logo, letterhead, business card, envelope, self promo piece (TBD by you).

• Self Promo Video

• An interactive PDF Portfolio

• Web-based portfolio

Your final grade will be based on:
Participation/Discussions (forums) = 15%
Projects = 30%
Final Print and Digital Portfolio = 55%
