Project: 8 Page Menu Design
Grade: 100 points
Due: Week# 5, Tuesday, 5pm

Create an 8 page interactive menu (3 spreads) with front and back cover.
This menu will have at least one page of a different size.

Now that you have created a magazine layout following the Lynda.com Designing a Magazine Layout Hands-On Workshop, you have a good sense of how to create thumbnail sketches for your layout, develop a grid, use master pages and styles for all different types of publications. You have also completed watching and creating the exercises in the Lynda.com InDesign CS5: Interactive Documents and Presentations. With all this information, you should be ready to design an 8 page interactive PDF menu and an interactive SFW menu for a restaurant of your choice. Follow the system (thumbnail sketches, grids, styles, master pages etc.) used in the Magazine tutorial to create your layouts. Refer to the various sections in both the videos as needed.
You should also review Lynda.com Indesign Essentials, section #4 Managing pages, section#8 Interactivity.

Planning your menu:
Create a Design Brief in a Word Document with the following:
State restaurant name (make up a name if this is a new restaurant)
State type of restaurant (American cuisine, Italian, French etc)
It may aso include a history of the restaurant or other interesting information.
Hours of operation
Clientele (adults, family etc)
Type Experiment sheet - 15 - 20 different fonts
List names, description, price for each meal (appetizers, entrees, desert, beverages, sides etc.)

Stockphotos (all images must be 72ppi)
View the stockphoto CDs in the DAC library (there are 2 or 3 with only food images)
Search the web for FREE images.
Create a folder for all your images and place this folder in your Xythos storage folder.

Create 3 sets of different layouts (refer to the Magazine video-sketches)
These must be done neatly on unlined paper.


Develop logo and/or logotype for your new restaurant
Use existing logo and/or logotype for existing reataurant
