Group Assignment: INVENTOR’S PROJECT
Grading: 100 Points

An inventor has died and left behind notes describing a new invention.
The dead inventors family has hired your creative team to continue developing this product
and create a slogan to sell it.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE INVENTOR:
• had many interests but was an environmentalist and has patents in the areas of
- agriculture
- medicine
- forestry

From the notes left by the deceased inventor, you know that the invention consists of;
• three circular/round parts
• three stick like parts
• one curved part
• at least one of these above parts moves
The notes also make reference to ONE MORE PART but it is not clear what that actually is.

YOUR TEAM WILL DECIDE ON THAT LAST PART.

Each team will use their discussion area to share ideas back and forth.
The discussion is where I will be able to track who is contributing.
Only team members will be able to see their own teams discussions.
Meetings in Second Life to work on the assignment is stronly encouraged and will be very helpful.

I will have instructions how to save your chats from SL so you can use them as notes to incude in the discussion.

Working with your partners
IT IS YOUR ASSIGNMENT TO:
1.) Use all the techniques...
BRAINSTORMING, LATERAL THINKING, CROSS-FERTILIZATION,
WIERD CONNECTIONS and WHAT-IFFING
•Develop a minimum of 20 what-if questions, and 20 “wierd combinations”
(what if the one square is the platform, what if one of the round parts can be shaped into a cup,
weird combos - what can a can of soup and a pencil be, etc.)

2.) Using the the above ideas and questions
• describe and name 3 different inventions.
•Write a short description of what
each invention actually is/does

3.) Choose THE best invention
• explain in greater detail what it does
• create a 2D visual
• create a 3D prototype model in SL
• develop a slogan to promote your new invention

4.) Your Team will Create ONE Word document and
EACH team member will Upload the same file to his/her assignment area.
The document will contain:
• list of ALL brainstorming ideas / questions
• at least 3 different inventions- include name and a description
• 2D visual/drawing of final invention
• Name and description of invention
• slogan

5.) Each member of the team will RATE each other.
Complete the Assessment sheet and upload separately.

6.) Presentations will be in Second Life (time/date TBA).

Grading: 100 Total Points
1.) uniqueness of invention = 50 points
2.) creativeness of slogan = 20 points
3.) 40 questions = 15 points
4.) 3 different invention ideas = 15 points
