Assignment: Second Life a virtual world

An online class lacks the face-2-face connection of a real classroom. To help improve our interaction I would like to use the virtual world, Second Life.

It is a place to meet to discuss class topics and for you to meet with members of your team when you are working on a group project.

One of the things you will notice as you travel around SL is how creative the residents (avatars) are.

For this assignment, read the links below and then sign up for a FREE SL account. You will choose an avatar name and then pick from the several available avatars. Once you are in SL you can customize your avatar any way you like.

I am including the MINIMUM system requirements you will need to run the SL software, which you will be directed to download.

PC Minimum System Requirements:
Internet Connection*: Cable or DSL
Operating System: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
OR Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4)

Video/Graphics Card**: nVidia GeForce 2, GeForce 4mx, or better OR ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better
