Each object will have it's own mindmap.
Mindmap Process:
1. Write the name of the object in the center of a piece of paper and circle the name or in the center of the Mindmeister map.
2. Draw six (6) (or create six nodes) lines from that circle (create a wheel with spokes).
4. On each line, write a word that is related to the word in the circle.
5. Now, draw another line from each of these words and write a word that comes to mind without much thinking and
continue the process until you have a minimum of 15 words added to each of the original lines.
As you add words you will find that the words will no longer relate to the main (circle) topic.
The purpose of adding words is to draw you away from the original topic so new ideas can be developed.
6. Pick a word from any of the spokes and connect it to another word in the map.
You can connect more than one word and it does not need to make sense.
Remember you are trying to free your mind to see things that you may not have seen before.
7. Scan (digital photo) if done manually and save as a 72ppi jpg no larger than 1024px wide or
upload Mindmeister file and insert into discussion area. Resize the Mindmeister map so it can be seen in the forum.
8. Below the inserted graphic, type in all your word combinations (minimum of 10).
These do not need to make sense. Just let it flow and see what happens.
9. Choose the set of word combinations that has sparked the new symbol idea and explain how the
word combination helped you develop the symbol.
10. Draw your symbol.
11. Repeat 1-10 for each object.
There is no wrong solution here, only creative ones.
Be free and confident as you work through this exercise.
Develop all three mind maps on one 8.5 x 11" page (manually drawn or digital)
with your final image beneath each one.
Upload ONE jpg and include your name on the top left of the page.
Name your file: lastname_mindmap.jpg

Developed product solution solves the assignment in a sufficiently creative way. Student shows an average understanding of the creative process. |
Developed product solution were not clearly related to the assignment and shows little or no understanding of the creative technique process. Student shows little regard to creativity. |
Technique Process |
Technique used(mind mapping) shows exceptional effort to follow the technique by developing a neat and clearly written and/or diagrammed process and shows extra effort was taken to expand on or go further with the process. |
Technique used(mind mapping) shows sufficient effort to follow the technique by developing a neat and clearly written and/or diagrammed process but no extra effort to expand or go further with the process is evident. |
Technique used(mind mapping) shows little or no effort to follow the technique. Process was messy and/or incomplete with less than minimum of six spokes and 15 levels for each spoke and listing of 10 word combination were incomplete. |
Student Response |
