Assignment Details:

For the following exercise, create ONE InDesign document with 4 pages. Begin by creating one page for each of the 2 landscape layouts and a third and fourth page for the portrait layouts. Each page will have TWO examples for each word.

Save often and make a backup.

Page #1 and 2 - landscape (horizontal) orientation of boxes:
1. Create 2 rows of 1 rectangle on each row. 5.5”w x 3”h
Do the same on both pages. Be sure each box has a 1pt., black frame and that the boxes do not touch.

2. Arrange a combination of lines and shapes (use only circles, triangles, squares, rectangles) varying size, weight, length in each box (minimum 5 elements).

3. On page 1 one represent calm and page 2 two represent tense. Make sure to label what each page is.

PAGE #3 and 4 - portrait (vertical) orientation of boxes:
1. Create 2 rows with one rectangle on each row or you may have one row with the 2 rectangles side by side 3.5”w x 4.5”h on each page. Be sure each box has a 1pt., black frame and that the boxes do not touch.

2. Again arrange a combination of lines and shapes (use only circles, squares, triangles, rectangles) varying size, weight, length in each box (minimum 5 elements).

3. On page 3 represent heavy and page 4 represent light. Make sure to label what each page is.

Work in black and white only.

As you create each design to represent calm and heavy, also consider the negative space created by the positive shapes.
The overall design of every layout is important.

• You will have a total of 8 rectangles and 4 pages.
• Export the 4 page Indesign file as one High Quality for Print PDF file. • SUBMIT the assignment.
